Day Fourteen

Pulled the data from the extracted PITs today to imagine how the challenge pages might look. I am going to cluster and combine the arguments that will be shown here, to make it more accurate, but you can start to see what I am going for. Need to think about what goes where to avoid nav hell.

I am really excited to see this starting to take shape :D

Screenshot of the challenge page for FOISA section 36, showing the 'Recent decisions' section with three Commissioner decisions from 2025, all with green 'Disclosure ordered' badges. The first two relate to Scottish Ministers and evidence submitted to investigations into the First Minister under the Ministerial Code. The third is from Heriot-Watt University regarding UCEA guidance on handling FOI requests. Below is an 'Explore all 198 decisions' button and a timestamp reading 'Based on 198 decisions analysed on 2026-02-23.' The interactive questionnaire begins underneath, asking 'Which part(s) of section 36 did the authority cite?' with checkbox options for Section 36(1) — legal professional privilege and Section 36(2) — breach of confidence.

Screenshot of the challenge page for FOISA section 36, showing the 'What the evidence shows' section. Two stat cards display '198 Commissioner decisions analysed' and '6% resulted in disclosure being ordered.' A subsection breakdown table shows 36(1) with 182 decisions and a 5% disclosure rate, and 36(2) with 17 decisions and an 18% disclosure rate. Below, 'Arguments that have supported disclosure' lists eight public interest arguments cited in successful cases, each with a frequency count of 1, including 'Cast important light on subject matter,' 'Matter of clear and sustained public debate,' and 'Promoting open, transparent and accountable government.' A 'Factors that tipped the balance' section begins at the bottom of the screenshot.
