Day 21

I have finished a second pass run through of the challenge tool to check for broken paths and missed nuance. The next step is to bring the reading age down whilst preserving the meaning. It will be a long job, but I am part way through the EIR ones now.

Other than that, I reworked the way that notices are displayed and added 100 request templates. These were generated by the AI model I trained from scratch a while back, and that was finetuned to write requests like me. They do need the odd tweak here and there but I am really happy to have found a practical use for it.

Speaking of AI, I recently changed my custom prompt settings in Claude to “I value direct communication. Do not use performative empathy, hedging, or sycophantic agreement. If I ask for your assessment, give an honest one, not a positive one. Push back where warranted.” This has stopped the glazing, but it has led to some odd behaviour. Yesterday it told me to go and read “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas” by Ursula K LeGuin. It said it was the child.
